Join our dynamic New York based IT team as an L2 Network Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network solutions. This position requires a deep understanding of networking, firewalls, and security protocols to ensure the performance, reliability, and security of our clients' network infrastructures.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Design & Implementation: Deploy and manage comprehensive LAN, WAN, and WLAN solutions, including configuring routers, switches, and wireless access points. Handle Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, VLANs, and routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP.
Firewall & Security Management: Set up and troubleshoot various firewall technologies like Meraki, SonicWall, and Palo Alto. Implement and manage VPNs, secure access solutions, and maintain intrusion prevention systems to uphold stringent security standards.
Troubleshooting & Optimization: Diagnose and rectify complex network issues, optimizing system performance using tools like SolarWinds, NetFlow, and Wireshark. Provide advanced support and escalation for network incidents.
Project Management & Vendor Collaboration: Lead network-related projects, including migrations and upgrades, while evaluating and integrating vendor solutions. Maintain robust relationships with vendors and service providers to enhance infrastructure solutions.
Documentation & Process Management: Develop and upkeep comprehensive network documentation and manage change processes effectively to ensure consistent operations and quick recovery during incidents.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in network engineering, with extensive knowledge in enterprise-level networking and firewalls.
Technical Proficiency: Expertise in enterprise network hardware like Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, and strong capabilities in firewall management across platforms such as Meraki, SonicWall, and Palo Alto.
Security and Compliance: A thorough understanding of network security practices, familiarity with standards like NIST and ISO 27001, and experience in implementing secure network strategies.
Certifications: Desirable certifications include CCNA, CCNP, PCNSA, or similar qualifications.
Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, proactive mindset, and the capability to communicate complex technical details effectively to diverse audiences.
Experience with cloud-based networking in environments like Azure or AWS is a plus, as is knowledge of hybrid network infrastructures.
Practical experience with network performance tuning and security enhancements, including handling email security solutions like Proofpoint.
